- CIC Midwest Lunch &
Learn,
"Amending
Your Governing Documents to Protect Your Association in 2009 and
Beyond"
Speaker:
Chad Johnson, Hellmuth & Johnson
The economic climate has
created a domino effect of challenging issues that associations need
to deal with head on. Amending your governing documents is a proactive
way to successfully protect your association now and in the future.
We'll discuss: requiring homeowners to submit a third party
notification to utilities so that associations are notified in case of
shut off; modification of no-rental policies to allow for the current
market conditions; tightening requirements for keeping dues current;
embezzlement safeguards, and more. We'll
review the different parts of our
governing documents and the procedures for updating or making changes
to each of them: Articles of Incorporation, Declaration, By-laws, and
Rules and Regulations. Find out when you need to have homeowners vote
on a change, when a board has the authority to make a change, and when
changes need to be filed with the state. Bring your questions.

CCAM designation will discuss the answers to some of the Hotline's
most intriguing questions. Many of questions may have come at
your association, or at the associations you manage. Then we will open
it up and take your questions live. This is one of the most helpful
ways to find out what others are doing, and what the solutions are to
some of your communities' most pressing issues. Don't miss this one!
